henry james

20130626-062746.jpg We have a new little grand-boy! His name is Henry James. He is perfect. Exquisite. Precious beyond compare. And so very much loved. His journey was not easy but oh, so very worth it.

Recently I came across a copy of the letter I wrote to his mommy and daddy, on the occasion of their wedding anniversary last year. It was a heartfelt missive of hopefulness.

They were hoping for a baby. We were hoping for them, too. It seemed as if it was bound to be a long and difficult process to see their dreams come true. I spoke from deep within a GiGi’s heart.

I hope you open your hearts to hope — embrace it — because that’s what God is all about. He has given us every reason to be hopeful, no matter the circumstances. I hope you hear a new song in your hearts soon. … I hope God blesses you beyond your wildest dreams. I know that he wants to give you the desires of your heart. I don’t know what that will look like, exactly, but you will. I can’t wait to see how it all turns out!

I don’t think it is a coincidence that one of the scripture references I gave to comfort them became my peace scripture for June, of all months. Henry’s birth month. It is the sweetest of synergies.

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

This morning I realized that we have come full circle. Hope has birthed joy! Joy in a baby boy! He is made in his father’s image. He is the answer to our prayers. There is a new song in their hearts. It is a lullaby of love. Their wildest dreams look exactly like their Henry James.
